Nice morning for a ride…and testing out a Garmin Edge 800

Woke up kind of early this morning, so I decided to head out for a ride. Picked up a Garmin Edge 800 a few days ago, so I figured this would be the perfect time to test it out.

I have to say that the 800 is a very nice device. Plenty of features to track your ride and follow progress. The map features are very nice. Not sure how often I’ll use them, but it’s nice to have them at my fingertips. Speaking of fingertips, I love the fact that it has a touchscreen for changing between the various screens and menus. The previous bike computer I used, I had to press buttons on the side of the thing to scroll thru the screens. With the 800, just a light tap on the arrows gets you right where you want to be. I know I just barely scratched the surface of what the 800 can do, but I’m sure that the more I use it, the more features I’ll “discover” and utilize.

As for the ride itself, it was pretty good. Light winds around 6 to 8 mph and a temp around 55 or so. It was just a short 7.71 mile neighborhood ride. Not too many people out at 6:30 in the morning, which is just how I like it. At one point along the bike trail I was riding on, I saw a hawk swoop down and try to grab what looked like a squirrel. It missed, but sat on a fence watching the squirrel scramble up a tree. You just have to love nature at its best. In the event, you’re interested in my ride stats, they can be viewed here…..http://connect.garmin.com/activity/478208105  (well, for some reason, I am unable to add this as a link, so for now you’ll need to copy/paste this into your address bar. sorry for any inconvenience.)

Well, that’s all for now. As always, thanks for stopping by. Take care and God Bless!!
